I've learned that there is rhetoric in comics. I think these cartoons create an accurate perception of how our media portrays violence to our youth. They're becoming desensitized to graphic images because the graphic images are now substitutes for play.
I agree. I think that the reason people are violent is because of the things that they watch or the games they play. Whatever you put in yourself is what is going to come out. I mean parents are the ones buying these games for them so really they are the ones to blame. I personally enjoy playing violent video games but I don't spend hours a day playing them. It is more of a once a month thing, which I think is healthy. It is really all about how much time parents let their children be exposed to violent materials.
Comics are the best. They use such few words but get such a big message across. I experienced the same thing with this little boy I knew. He'd always play fight and have no problem cursing at you if he didn't like something. Turns out his parents would let him watch R rated movies and play M rated video games all the time, so he felt it was ok to mimic those things. So sad.
This is so true.

ReplyDeleteThis comic is quite hilarious and in a way true because of everything that children are exposed to in this day and age.
